A Note From The Owners:
We absolutely love living in South Georgia, but the founding of our Cheese Shop is a direct result of several trips to New York City. We loved dipping into these tiny shops to sample hand crafted cheeses, nibble on small production charcuterie, and drink delicious wine. It remains our guilty pleasure and an experience we want to share with everyone. So, come visit our Cheese Shop and let us share our guilty pleasure with you!Sincerely,
Jeremy and Jessica Little -- Owners

Sweet Grass Dairy Wins Prestigious ‘Retailer Of The Year’ Award
THOMASVILLE, GA (05/06/13) – Sweet Grass Dairy (SGD), one of the nation’s premier family-owned handcrafted cheesemakers has been named one of five recipients of The Specialty Food Association’s esteemed Outstanding Retailer Of The Year. Winners are nominated by and selected by members of The Specialty Food Association. SGD is being recognized for its Cheese Shop in historic Downtown Thomasville, GA.
“We are truly blown away,” said Owners Jeremy and Jessica Little. “This award comes directly from our peers, so that means a lot to us. When we put the Cheese Shop downtown, we knew that the community would respond and they have in a massive way. Now, others are noticing and that’s so humbling.”
Since its founding in 2000, SGD has always operated a retail store in some form, either on the farm or just a few miles away. In the fall of 2010, the Littles’ jumped at a chance to rent a historic building ‘on the bricks’ downtown.
“Having a retail spot downtown was always something we talked about,” said the Littles. “This space came available and within 72 hours we were signing a lease. It’s been the absolute perfect fit. The people of Thomasville and folks from the surrounding communities have been nothing short of amazing.”
Throughout the last three years the Cheese Shop has gradually evolved to bring in elements of personable retail sales, custom cheese shop services, and the feel of a passionately driven wine bar with creative small plates.
“Customers drove the Cheese Shop in the direction you see us going today,” said the Littles. “We listened to what they were telling us every day and we responded to it. Our number one responsibility is to make sure that when someone comes into our Shop that they leave smiling and that their experience was terrific.”
That dedication to ensuring customer satisfaction begins with its well-trained staff and commitment to sourcing high-quality goods.
“We truly have a great staff,” said the Littles. “This award is a testament to their commitment to making our Cheese Shop better every single day. Our Managers and our staff love learning about each product we offer. But, what they love the most is getting to share these items with our customers. Turning a customer into a fan of a locally made salami or getting them hooked on a sheep’s milk cheese from Spain - that’s what brings us back each day.”
