Upcoming Tastings

We know that the best part of cheese is actually eating it, that's why we hold regular tasting events at our Cheese Shop in downtown Thomasville, GA. And, from time to time, we pack up the 'Cheese Beast' and high-tail it to an event. Take a look below to see what we are up to next.

If your company is interested in participating in a tasting with our Cheese Shop or hosting Sweet Grass Dairy for an event please email mat@sweetgrassdairy.com

Presentations

Over the years, we've had the great honor of speaking at community organizations, clubs and groups in our local community and across the country. While our forte is hand-crafting cheeses, we never want to miss an opportunity to share our passions with you. If your organization is interested in a visit from one of our team members, email mat@sweetgrassdairy.com. While we cannot accept every invitation, we'll try our best to accommodate you.

Summer Camp

This is quite simply one of the most rambunctious, fun, and exhilarating weeks at our farm. It's a time that many of the staff actually look forward to more than the kids that are attending. Perhaps that says more about us than it does the kids, but we're okay with that.

Each year, Sweet Grass Dairy hosts a week-long Summer Camp for kids from ages 3 years old to 3rd grade students. Space is limited and camp typically fills up quickly. Check out all the information:

Dates: June 3rd to June 7th

Time: Camp starts at 8:30am and ends at 1 pm.

Cost: $150 for the week. Cost includes all supplies needed for gardening, art, cooking, animals, snacks, a metal water bottle, and a Sweet Grass Dairy T-shirt.

Food: A snacks of cheese and crackers will be provided each day around 10:00AM. However, Children will need to bring their own lunches to camp. We will provide water bottles for them to use throughout the morning.

Class Size: 1 to 6 ratio of camp supervisors to students for each group. Make sure the campers dress in comfortable play clothes and tennis shoes.

Classes Offered

Gardening
This station has covered a wide range of topics over the past three years including planning a garden, selecting a site, preparing the soil with compost, planting seeds and seedlings, maintaining the garden by pulling weeds, and harvesting tomatos, potatoes, beans, and basil.

Recycling
Campers will learn how ordinary items can be reused or recycled in a fun and creative way!

Animals
Kids will learn everything there is to know about farm animals!

Arts & Crafts
From painting pots to making magnets, this is one of the kids' favorite stations! One highlight from past year's was when the kids made cool bottle cap snakes from recycled metal caps.

Science
Some of the topics covered in years past include parts of the plant, life cycle of a butterfly and beneficial garden bugs such as ladybugs and earthworms.

Nutrition/Cooking
We have found that if the kids can prepare their own garden snacks, they love to eat carrots, summer vegetable homemade pasta and fruit smoothies.  We also like to touch on the concept of Red Light, Yellow Light, and Green Light foods for good nutrition in this portion of the camp as well.

**Important Registration Information**

Summer Camp is 'first come, first served' for each age group. We cannot hold spots without payment. Once the age group is full, we can put your child's name on the waiting list in case of cancellations. We will still have camp in the rain, but in the case of extreme lightning, we would cancel camp for that particular day. All activities would be rescheduled or we would extend camp hours on another day.

After you have registered, you will receive a packet of information shortly. It contains important questions related to your child's well-being while in our care and we want to make sure we have all the necessary information to ensure that everyone is as safe as humanely possible. The paperwork must be completed, your signatures must be on the required documents, and the entire packet must submitted to Sweet Grass Dairy before your child will be allowed to participate in camp. If you have any questions email
classes@sweetgrassdairy.com or call 229-227-0752.
